CSI Health Wins Phase One SBIR Award

Partnering with the Air Force for Innovative Telemedicine Solutions

San Antonio, Texas: On February 1, 2021, AFWERKS named CSI Health the winner of a Phase One contract through the Air Force’s SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) program. The award recognizes CSI’s successful commercialization of its X-1 Mobile Unit, as well as its viability for direct military application. This award funds further development of the product in hopes of securing a military end-user.

“This award is a great step forward for our company. We are excited at the opportunity to develop our product specifically for the health and well-being of those serving in our nation’s military.” Brad Bowen, President.

CSI Health was selected from a pool of highly competitive applicants. Speaking about the benefits of this competition, the Air Force released this statement, “AFRL and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research process in an attempt to speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants and decrease bureaucratic overhead. Beginning in SBIR 18.2, and now in 20.3, the Air Force has begun offering ‘Special’ SBIR topics that are faster, leaner and open to a broader range of innovations.” Our X-1 Mobile Unit proved to be one of these innovations the Air Force is most interested in.
